One of my ancestors on my father's side was Athon Courtenay (or de Courtenay), known to be living in the year 1000.
I am also descended from three of the Earls of Devon (England), one of my ancestors was heir to the throne and was beheaded for fighting on the wrong side in the War of the Roses.
On my mother's father's side I am descended from a bishop who is buried at Westminster Abbey and from a highwayman who was drawn, quartered, and hug at Charing Cross.
My mother's mother is French, originally from Normandy, and my father's mother's family was Irish, originally from County Cork.
My beliefs are best described as Pagan/Wiccan as I feel most spiritually uplifted in nature and believe that divinity lies within ourselves and not with some external, paternalistic, war-like deity; I also believe in the power of touch, the healing power of herbs, and precognition.
I feel that it is best to strive to be child-like (not childish), with a sense of wonderment and enjoyment in the simple things of life. Come, sip a glass of wine with me in my garden and savour the crunch of French bread, the creaminess of butter cheese, and the richness of smoked wild salmon as we watch the sun set over the snow-capped mountains in the distance as the breeze brings the scent of cedar to our nostrils.
